ROGEREBERT.COM   ·   BRIAN TALLERICO ON “DANDELION”: “Riegel’s approach is organic and grounded, focusing with cinematographer Lauren Guiteras on Dandelion and Casey’s hands, arms, and expressive faces as they create… It’s a raw, sweaty, human film with a stronger visual language than nearly anything else I saw at SXSW.”

VARIETY   ·   MA BELLE, MY BEAUTY REVIEW: “Ma Belle, My Beauty” is lovely… Hill and cinematographer Lauren Guiteras seize the light in ways that suggest the unfolding dramas — while ouchy — are part and parcel of a life worth grabbing hold of… the movie hints at Luca Guadagnino’s vexed idylls.

SHORT OF THE WEEK   ·   CHILD RUNAWAYS: “It’s this focus on the unremarkable that makes the film remarkable… what’s even more special is the way the characters, helped by the kaleidoscopic magic of the cinematography, teleport us back to our own childhood years, where every single object and place has secret powers and unlimited potential to deliver pure joy.”
